Queering the Campus is a zine-manifesto calling for college campuses to be more inclusive and accepting of their queer student and faculty. From my own college experience, I have found that while college campuses are not necessarily anti-queer, they do not contribute to supporting and promoting the queer community. With Queering the Campus, I point out these flaws and provide opportunities to discuss these issues, ultimately dismantling the heteropatriarchal ideals that college campuses are built upon.

The design of Queering the Campus is inspired by the Queercore movement, more specifically the queer communities roots in Punk/DIY subcultures and their ties to activism. I pulled a lot of inspiration from queer ephemera of the 80s & 90s, punk show posters, and queer publications.

As a queer person, more specifically a queer designer, it is essential that I use my skills to create spaces for other queer individuals . With this zine-manifesto, I create spaces for conversation surrounding the treatment of queer students & faculty by the institutions they are apart of and contribute to on a daily basis.

All of the imagery used within Queering the Campus was sourced from either the University of Florida or Queer archives.
